The revision process of GOTS Version 2.0 officially started with the meetings of the Technical Committee and the Certifiers Council during Biofach, Nuremberg in February 2010.
End of June 2010 the GOTS Technical Director introduced to the approved certifiers and invited stakeholders a first revision draft based on various suggested revisions collected since the release of Version 2.0. Comments and proposals to (change) this draft were collected via a blog open to the members of the Technical Committee, Approved Certifiers and the invited stakeholder organisations during a 60 day period until August 26th 2010.
The GOTS Technical Committee is now about to review and evaluate all contributions received and will provide to the contributors of the revision process for the rational of accepting or not taking into account the proposals received for revision. The second revision draft will again be made available to the group of Approved Certifiers and stakeholders for final comments. The Technical Committee will then present the resulting final revision draft to the International Working Group who will decide on the release of GOTS Version 3.0 probably during its annual meeting at Biofach Germany in February 2011. In addition to the GOTS the accompanying Manual for Implementation will be revised in this process.
International stakeholder organizations initially invited to participate in the Stakeholder Input System for revision of GOTS were:
• Clean Clothes Campaign
• Consumers International
• Ecological and Toxicological Association of Dyes and Organic Pigments
• Ethical Trade Initiative
• Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International
• Greenpeace International
• International Cotton Association
• International Council of Chemical Associations
• International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements
• International Labour Organisation
• International Textile Manufacturers Association
• International Trade Union Confederation
• International Wool Textile Organisation
• Organic Exchange
• Rite Group
Other parties interested in providing comments and suggestions to the GOTS revision process were requested to channel them through one of the invited stakeholder organisations, approved certifiers or member organisations of the International Working Group.
